Bike Shop Bikes vs Dept Store

n68909492145_18501

Why Choose Us over a Toy Store

First of all, Thank You for giving us an opportunity to earn your business! We are often asked "What's the difference between your bikes and the ones at one of the toy, department or discount stores? " "Their bikes are much cheaper and look OK. Aren't they the same?" In a word, NO. They are not! As Consumer Reports stated; Mass merchant bikes have an average life expectancy of only TWO, yes that's right, TWO years(!) While Bike Shop bikes have a average life of 15 years!  While large big box sporting goods store's bikes tend to be of a higher quality than the toy stores, thy still fall far short of the bikes sold in bike shops.  There's also a HUGE difference in care and service after you purchase your bike.                                                                                                                                                          highwheeler2

n68909492145_18501xtc_29er_1_smallxtc_29er_2_small

Twenty Niner fans worldwide have been asking the same question: When  is the World’s largest frame producer going to address the big wheeled market? Well my friends they finally have… well…almost. The pictured bikes are Giant’s answer. The XTC 1 29er  and XTC 2 29er  will be available within the next few weeks. The higher end Giant 29er will be adorned with a Fox fork (with thru axle) and a mix of Shimano XT, SLX, and Deore components. The XTC 29 2 will be dressed in Shimano Deore and Alivo bits with a Marzocchi Forty-Niner TST2 fork with a 15QR thru axle.

Welcome to the New Age of Family Biking!

ibert_02

The safe-T-seat is more than just a child carrier, it’s 6 years work of a mother and father who were disappointed with the family bicycling options available. The bicycle trailers were great for us but terrible for the kids. They couldn’t see anything but dirt and rocks and when we closed the front flap to keep the muck out of their faces, they got too hot. Plus, it was BORING for them.

Stop by and see the new Ibert Child Carrier n68909492145_1850

29er Hardtails by GARY FISHER

mamba

hifi-2

Gary has always been very good at questioning standards. 29" wheels are now the fastest-growing segment of the mountain bike world, and for good reason. They’re a blast. And Fisher has a greater understanding of the details and intricacies of larger wheels than any other builder.

It’s classic Fisher.  Come see the 29ers at Camden Bicycle Center.

May is National Bike Month

Six Great Ways to Get Involved

  1. Ride your bike, especially for trips under two miles. Why? The emission controls on your car are not operating effectively in the first few minutes thus short trips create more pollution.
  2. Get your kids to ride. In 1964 50% of kids rode to school and the obesity rate was 12%…in 2004, 3% rode to school and the obesity rate was 45%. To learn more, check out www.saferoutestoschools.org.
  3. Get your friends to ride their bikes. Challenge them to find out where they can pedal within two miles of their house, then encourage them to take a bike for short trips.
  4. Contact your state bicycle advocacy group and support their efforts.
  5. Like to ride mountain bikes? Join the IMBA and support their efforts to open new trails and maintain existing trails.
  6. Keep updated on important issues and events. Sign up for 1world2wheels.org.
